Abstract
Gyrotonic® is an approach to movement developed by Juliu Horvath that is applied in the prevention, therapy and rehabilitation of complaints and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The spine is the focal point of the “slow and flow” movement sequences performed with (Gyrotonic Expansion System®) or without the associated equipment (Gyrokinesis®). The targets of this concept include elimination or relief of muscle tension, improvement in the range of motion and coordination as well as strengthening the muscles. An expansion of the present usage of this approach to movement is conceivable in numerous fields of occupational medical prevention and rehabilitation. This article presents the Gyrotonic® method.
