Abstract

Tumescent liposuction has become an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure since its inception nearly 30 years ago. Laser lipolysis has more recently been studied as an alternative method of body contouring. We discuss the efficacy and safety of laser lipolysis in comparison to tumescent liposuction. Ultimately, while laser lipolysis is effective for localized fat reduction, data is lacking to show its superiority to tumescent liposuction.
