Abstract
Although environmental health concerns are growing in the public, media, and political circles, these issues are also relevant in the field of medical care. In neonatology, these issues may be particularly critical given the high vulnerability of patients. Among the environmental risks associated with newborn care, the chemical risk, often latent and poorly documented, is complex to approach. This review addresses this problem through a clinical example questioning the exposure to phthalates, particularly important in the neonatal care units. Far from being resolved, the dilemmas that these questions raise should not be ignored.
