Samenvatting
Inleiding
Abstract
Objective
Although the effectiveness of integrated community-based care models, such as the Wraparound Care Model (WCM) that is used to organize ambulatory care nearby (more demand-oriented and less problem-directed models have not yet been studied), Dutch municipalities are implementing these models. This study aims to provide information about the effectiveness of the WCM as implemented by the Opvoedpoli [parenting center], one of the Dutch initiators of integrated care.
Method
This study consists of two parts: one part in which the changes between pre- and post-treatment effects of the WCM-trajectories were studied (N = 921) and one benchmark study with a care-as-usual (CAU) population (N = 158).
Results
After completion of a WCM-trajectory, client satisfaction is high; two thirds of the families reached their goals, and in these families parental stress, family functioning and problem behavior of the child improved significantly (d = 0.63–1.00; d = 0.28–1.09; d = 1.44–1.53; respectively). Although the effect-size is small (d = 0.29), the decrease of children’s problem behavior is larger in the WCM population than in the CAU population.
Discussion
This study contains clear indications for the effectiveness of the Wraparound Care Model in the Netherlands.
