Vlaamse aanbeveling voor sportmedisch onderzoek: een leidraad voor de arts

Samenvatting

De huisarts wordt regelmatig geconfronteerd met vragen van sporters en federaties om de sportgeschiktheid te beoordelen en advies te geven. In deze bijdrage bespreken we welke vragen en onderzoeken nuttig zijn, en bij welke sporters er meer aandacht voor cardiaal, pneumologisch of neurologisch onderzoek nodig is. Het doel is een advies te kunnen geven dat gebaseerd is op de huidige stand van de wetenschap, om sporters van alle leeftijden op een zo gezond mogelijke manier aan sport te laten doen. We moeten echter beseffen dat we nooit alle sportgerelateerde blessures en ziekten kunnen voorkomen.
