Abstract

Correlations about the influence of parenthood (children up to 18 years) on the psychosocial situation and quality of life of cancer patients have rarely been examined. In addition to epidemiological issues, this applies in particular to the specific psychooncological strain on patients and their families as well as the resulting care needs. The few findings we do have, however, point to an accumulation of strain and problems in these families in particular. The present article summarises important research findings. Based on an own empirical survey, findings on the quality of life of cancer patients with minor children are presented.
