Abstract

Absence of left circumflex artery (LCX) is a rare congenital coronary abnormality. Congenital anomalies of coronary arteries are unusual and generally discovered incidentally. Here, we present a case report of a 45-year-old lady with severe mitral stenosis who was admitted to our department for mitral valve replacement. During routine computed tomography angiogram of coronaries for pre-operative evaluation, we found that there was absence of LCX. There was no history of chest pain or other symptoms of ischemic heart disease. Congenital absence of LCX associated with ischemic heart disease is already described in literature although it is a rare anomaly, but association of absent LCX with severe mitral stenosis has not been reported.
