Come 2015, there will be some changes in the Journal of Genetics. Given the stabilization of the journal, and a steadily increasing number of submissions and acceptances, we will be publishing four issues a year, starting 2015. We will also have a change of Editor-in-Chief, and it is my great pleasure to introduce and welcome Prof. Rajiva Raman who will be steering the journal from January onwards. Prof. Rajiva Raman is an eminent cytogeneticist, but equally at home in many areas of the broader subject. His sweep on genetics is broad, ranging from classical to molecular, and mechanistic to evolutionary. For the past many years, he has been active as an Associate Editor, and has long been a well-wisher of the journal. Given the history of the journal, that is the kind of geneticist we need at the helm. With the support of our excellent editorial colleagues, and the editorial staff at the Academy, I have no doubt that the journal will scale new heights under his stewardship.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our extremely active and cooperative editorial colleagues. In the seven years that I have been Editor-in-Chief, it would not have been possible for the journal to improve without the untiring efforts of all our Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members who have given of their time and energy cheerfully and unstintingly. A very big thank you to all of them: the journal has reached where it has because of their hard work, especially over the past few years, as submissions have increased almost exponentially. I also thank Gracy Rani and Prakash, and Chandramohan, for all the help they have given me these past seven years. I look forward to watching the journal grow further in coming years, to a degree commensurate with its illustrious past.
