The original version of this article unfortunately contained errors in the “Introduction” section. The second paragraph under “Introduction” section should read as follows:
This prolonged life expectancy has affected many aspects of activities of daily living among the elderly, one among which is the difficulty in locomotion. This is illustrated by a study in Kagoshima that demonstrated that issues including fear of falling (37.1 %), not being able to stand without arm support (13.8 %), not being able to ascend stairs without using rail or wall for support (28.6 %), slow gait speed (46.1 %) and refraining from going out (11.3 %) were common among people aged 70–74 years [2].
