Effective 2015, Mycological Progress will change its publication structure from paginated issues to a new publication model: Continuous Article Publishing.

This means that papers will be published immediately upon online publication in a volume/issue. The Online First queue will become obsolete and time from submission to publication in an issue is significantly shorter. This will give rapidly-published articles full citation details from first publication.

Articles will no longer be paginated sequentially by issue. Every article will start on a page 1. Page numbers will not be used for article citation, but every article will have a citation ID number, called the ArticleCitationID. The ArticleCitationID replaces the page numbers in the citation line. The citation line includes the journal citation title, year of publication, volume number and ArticleCitationID.

Example:

Old: Mycol Progress (2011) 11:47–59

New: Mycol Progress (2015) 14:1234

This method of citation is recognized by the Web of Science/Journal Citation Reports (ISI). Taxonomy databases like Index Fungorum and Mycobank accept this method of citation as well. In general, we recommend, though, to contact any databases in advance as this is a still ongoing process.

Additionally, Mycological Progress will change from four issues in print and electronic version per year to a monthly frequency of e-only issues.

We feel that our authors and readers will benefit from this change in the publication structure and frequency of Mycological Progress.
