Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Aims and scope

A mathematical formulation is presented for the boundary problem of stationary twodimensional radon transport in the soil bed of a building. The MAPLE mathematical software package is used to solve the problem. A rule governing variation in the radon-concentration field in the bed of a building is established as a function of its width and depth. A more accurately defined formula is proposed for calculation of the radon load on the embedded portion of the building.
