Le théâtre racinien nous donne en spectacle moins le discours du tragique que le tragique du discours. La parole brisée, rupturée, tue ne s'avère plus un signe, c'est-à-dire, instituée, figurée ; elle ne représente pas, elle est, au même titre qu'un objet, une matière, un presque vivant, non pas seconde quant au réel, mais équivalente, contiguë. Sémantiquement déshéritée, sémiotiquement investie d'un pouvoir infécond, cette parole embrasse et méta-textualise la même prétérition qu'elle annonce. Tout désir de dissemblance, pour tenace qu'il soit, collabore à la facticité de l'objet textuel, mène délibérément à l'échec.
