Abstract
Accumulated radioactive water (AW) and processed water (PW) were sampled from certain locations of the accumulated radioactive water processing facility at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plants, in order to estimate the radioactivity of the secondary waste such as zeolite and sludge, which adsorbed radioactive material. The method to separate iodide ion (I−) from other radionuclides using the solid phase extraction sorbent, Anion SR, was optimized to measure the concentration of 129I in the AW and PW samples. After the chemical separation, the concentration of 129I in the sampled water was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry with a dynamic reaction cell (DRC-ICP-MS).
