Effectiveness of Opoka-Containing Causticized Batches for Glass Containers

  • Published:
Glass and Ceramics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

It is confirmed that opoka can be used in batches for green glass containers. It is found that the most effective strategy is to introduce opoka instead of feldspar concentrate with the opoka fraction in the batch reaching 40%. The causticization of glass batches with opoka improves their physical and mechanical characteristics and significantly increases the chemical effectiveness. Accessible energy-efficient technologies can be developed on the basis of opoka (diatomite, perlite).
