Dear Authors and Colleagues! Please allow me to congratulate you on the jubilee of the 50th year of publication ofthe journal Chemistry of Natural Compounds and to wish you success, scientific challenges, and well-being.

The burgeoning development in the 1960s of the chemistry of natural compounds, a subset of organic chemistry, and the comprehensive research in this area that was carried out in Uzbekistan prompted the creation in 1965 of the scientific journal Chemistry of Natural Compounds. The journal was founded by the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The pre-eminent Academician Sabir Yunusovich Yunusov, a world-renown scientist on the chemistry of natural compounds, was responsible for publishing the journal and acted as the Chief Editor for 27 years (1965–1992).

From the moment the journal was created, it pages displayed articles addressing issues with the isolation, structure elucidation, synthesis, and chemical transformations of natural compounds and reports on their structure–biological-activity relationships. All submitted articles are reviewed and edited by highly qualified specialists from around the world.

To this date, 14,776 manuscripts have been submitted to Chemistry of Natural Compounds. Of these, 6,405 articles and 5,526 short communications were published (294 issues). Beginning in 1995, the journal has also published articles in English.

Today, the journal covers 17 printer’s sheets and is published six times per year. This is almost three times exceed of its initial volume (6 printer’s sheets × 6 issues). Experimental articles in Russian are published in 6–8 months; in English, 12–14 months. The journal is published in English as Chemistry of Natural Compounds by Springer Science + Business Media, Inc.

Within the last decade, Chemistry of Natural Compounds has achieved the status of an international publication and is currently one of the leading publications of domestic and foreign phytochemists. Researchers from countries near and far publish regularly on its pages. For example, in 2013, the journal published manuscripts of researchers from over 40 countries including the CIS countries and over 30 distant countries such as China, India, Iran, France, Algiers, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Germany, Pakistan, Slovenia, Brazil, and others.

The efforts of the editorial board and staff are aimed at improving the review of manuscripts, increasing the scientific level of published data, and raising the status of Chemistry of Natural Compounds among the international scientific community. The demand for articles on the study of natural compounds, regardless of their class or type, has been increasing each year.

Starting in 2014, Chemistry of Natural Compounds is renewing the publication of review articles in various areas of the chemistry of natural compounds at the request of the editorial board. The editorial board hopes that the reviews will interest specialists in the chemistry of natural compounds.

We thank the board, readers, and authors for continuing collaboration and await new submissions.

The editors will always be happy to present your new scientific achievements on the pages of Chemistry of Natural Compounds.
