Nano-SnCl4·SiO2 – a versatile and efficient catalyst for synthesis of 14-aryl- or 14-alkyl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes

  • Published:
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds Aims and scope

2-Naphthol and various aldehydes were used for the synthesis of 14-aryl- or 14-alkyl-14H-di-benzo[a,j]xanthene in the presence of nano-SnCl4∙SiO2 under solvent-free condition. Nano-SnCl4∙SiO2 is an efficient, readily available, and reusable catalyst for this reaction resulting in good to excellent yields.
