Due to typing errors, the vector \(\mathbf {f}\) in (3.18) at p. 340 is wrong.
The correct vector is
$$\begin{aligned} \mathbf {f}:=\left[ \begin{array}{c} \mathbf {b} \\ \mathbf {a} \end{array} \right] . \end{aligned}$$
