Abstract

This study describes the gross and histopathological characteristics of dermoid cyst in a camel. A 2-year-old female camel was presented with a history of enlarging mass on the proximal part of the neck. The mass were firm, oval, fluctuating, painless, and approximately 5 × 3 cm in diameter. Histopathologically, the cyst was lined by stratified squamous epithelium and filled with desquamated keratin. The lumen of the cyst contained squamous debris and numerous hair shafts extending from the wall of the cyst. The wall consisted of two to ten layers of cells, and varied in thickness from one part of the wall to another. In the present report, a case of dermoid cyst in the skin of the proximal part of the neck is described.
