A compound Rayleigh survival model and its application to randomly censored data

Abstract

A compound Rayleigh survival model with unimodal hazard rate function is extended to accommodate randomly censored data. Maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the model parameters and the standard errors of such estimates. Also, it is shown that the maximum likelihood estimates are strongly consistent for the true values of the parameters and are asymptotically bivariate normal. Application of the considered model to medical data is given and its goodness-of-fit is demonstrated.
