Facial nerve decompression in Bell’s palsy, facial myoclonus and head injuries

Summary

  1. 1.

    A series of 13 cases is presented in which the facial nerve was decompressed.

  2. 2.

    There were 7 cases of Bell’s palsy, 4 cases associated with head injury, and 2 cases of facial hemispasm.

  3. 3.

    The value and limitations of the procedure are outlined. Acknowledgments are due to Prof. A. A. McConnell and Mr. J. P. Lanigan, who kindly referred their patients for operation.
