Abstract

The bronchodilator activity of 3 inhaled doses (20, 40 and 60 µg) of the new formulation ipratropium bromide (Sch1000) monohydrate was examined in 8 asthmatic subjects. The study was placebo controlled and double-blind. There was no significant difference between the 3 doses of Sch1000 for the peak FEV1 change 1 h after drug administration, whereas 60 µg Sch1000 caused a significantly greater change in peak MMEF than 20 and 40 µg Sch1000. The duration of bronchodilator effect of 60 µg Sch1000 was significantly greater than that of 20 and 40 µg Sch1000.
