Conclusions
In Iceland, wind-action is very strong. It has acted, almost every-where, upon volcanic material. It is marked by deflation and accumulation of finer particles, like ashes, and typical wearing of larger stones, like blocks of basalt and tuff. It has acted not only at the present time, but also during the recent and ancient Quaternary. Like in many other arctic regions, it is less connected with aridity, but than with the absence of vegetation-covering caused by the roughness of the climate (cold; strong wind). It is favoured by the great abundance of material supplied by the Icelandic volcanism.
