Two years of experience with the Multiload Cu375 in Georgia

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical performance of the Multiload Cu375 IUD in 157 healthy women, aged 18–38 years, who had regular sexual intercourse and who wished to avoid pregnancy. The period of observation was 2 years.

During 24 months, pain and bleeding was noted in 7 patients (4.4%); IUD expulsion was observed in 4 cases (2.5%) and there was only 1 case (0.6%) of pregnancy.

Our conclusion is that the Multiload Cu375 is an excellent method of contraception.

Resumé

Cette étude a été menée pour évaluer l'efficacité clinique du DIU Multiload Cu 375; on a étudié 157 femmes en bonne santé, agées de 18 à 38 ans, qui avaient des rapport sexuels réguliers et qui souhaitaient éviter une grossesse. La période d'observation a été de 2 ans.

Des douleurs et des pertes sanguines durant ces 24 mois ont été constatées chez 7 patientes (4.4). Dans 4 cas (2.5) nous avons observé une expulsion du DIU. Il n'y a eu qu'un seul cas (0.6) de grossesse.

Nous en avons conclu que le DIU Multiload Cu 375 est une excellente méthode de contraception.

Resumen

Se realizó este estudio para evaluar la eficacia clínica del DIU Multiload Cu 375, estudiándose a 157 mujeres en buen estado de salud, de 18 a 38 años de edad, que tenían relaciones sexuales regulares y que deseaban evitar el embarazo. El período de observación fue de 2 años.

Se observaron dolores y pérdidas de sangre durante estos 24 meses en 7 pacientes (4.4). En 4 casos (2.5) se observó la expulsión del DIU. Hubo sólo un caso (0.6) de embarazo.

Llegamos a la conclusión de que el DIU Multiload Cu 375 es un excelente método anticonceptivo.
