Summary

The relationships between the dietary content of carbohydrates and the lipid metabolism in the man are considered and the conclusion that the carbohydrates are not all equal in this respect is reached. Moreover a clear difference between men and pre-menopausal women concerning the conversion of sucrose and fructose to glycerides has been observed.
