Abstract
In some depressive patients, regarded as therapy-resistant, the antidepressive effect of 1-5-hydroxytryptophan (in combination with a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor) was ehanced by clomipramine at a dosage which, as such, was suboptimal. This probably means that the therapeutic effect of 1-5-hydroxy-tryptophan is based on increase of serotonin at central serotonin receptors.
