Frühe Elternschaft: jugendliche Mütter und ihre Kinder

Zusammenfassung

Jugendliche Mütter und ihre Kleinkinder gelten als Hochrisikogruppe. Sie sind psychosozial erheblichen Belastungen ausgesetzt und erfahren wenig oder keine soziale Unterstützung. Diese Kumulation vielfältiger Risiken und ihre Wechselwirkung miteinander wirken sich nachteilig auf die psychische Gesundheit der Mütter aus und gefährden auch die sozial-emotionale Entwicklung der Kinder. Dabei lassen sich Risiken, wie die einer erhöhten depressiven Symptomatik, bei jugendlichen und hoch belasteten Müttern auch geschlechtsspezifisch interpretieren. Die spezifische Lebenssituation jugendlicher Mütter und ihrer Kinder wird am Beispiel einer Interventionsstudie dargestellt. Vor dem Hintergrund bekannter Befunde, nach denen sich jugendliche Mütter im Umgang mit ihrem Kind häufig wenig feinfühlig verhalten, wird ein entwicklungspsychologisch fundierter und videogestützter Beratungsansatz zur Beziehungsförderung vorgestellt. Die Ergebnisse der Studie zeigen, dass die Mütter mit entwicklungspsychologischer Beratung im Verlauf einer 3-monatigen Intervention zunehmend und deutlich feinfühliger mit dem Säugling umgingen und sich von den Müttern ohne Intervention unterschieden. Implikationen für frühe und sekundär-präventive Interventionen in der Jugendhilfe werden diskutiert.

Abstract

Adolescent mothers and their infants are a high-risk group. They are exposed to multiple stress and experience little social support. The accumulation and the interaction of multiple risk factors have an adverse effect on both the psychological well-being of the adolescent mothers and the socioemotional development of the children. In addition, increased depressive symptoms observed in adolescent mothers suggest a gender-specific interpretation. A preventive intervention study illustrates the specific situation of adolescent mothers and their infants. The intervention is relationship based, focuses on video feedback, and promotes sensitive parental behavior. The results reveal that the relationship-based intervention improved maternal sensitivity during the babies' first 3 months compared to a group of adolescent mothers who received intervention based on counseling and compared to a group of adolescent mothers without intervention. Implications for the application of early and secondary preventive interventions in child welfare services are discussed.
