Investment casting of gold jewellery

The surface properties of castings: Effects of casting atmospheres and other factors

Abstract

Measurements made by a very simple method have shown that many of the factors which affect the quality of castings are sensitive to surface and interfacial energies during the pouring of the melt. The results of a number of measurements of these parameters are presented and discussed.
