Zusammenfassung

Nach einigen Wochen unter Therapie mit Olanzapin traten bei zwei Patienten mit Psychosen Hyperglykämien auf. Während im ersten Fall sich die Blutzuckerwerte nach Absetzen des Präparates rasch normalisierten, kam es im zweiten zu einer raschen Ketoazidose mit letalem Ausgang.

Summary

Two psychotic patients developed hyperglycaemia several weeks after starting olanzapine. In one case the elevated glucose concentrations returned to normal soon after withdrawal of olanzapine. In the second case severe ketoacidosis with letal outcome occured.
