Abstract

The process of destruction of lithium carbonate in the film of melt flowing down the walls of a reactor in a flow of high-temperature inert gas is investigated. Experiments are performed in a dynamic mode under equal-to-atmospheric pressure of gas heat-transfer agent. The degree of conversion of lithium carbonate to lithium oxide under the given experimental conditions is 75%. The results are discussed of approximate calculations of the principal characteristics of the film of melt on reactor walls, as well as the possible mechanism of decomposition of lithium carbonate.
