Abstract
In presented research, the preparation and characterization of a magnetic chitosan support and immobilization process of palladium nanoparticles on its surface were reported. Then, the catalytic activity of prepared nanocomposite was investigated in the cross-coupling reaction of acyl chlorides with phenyl acetylene for the synthesis of α,β-ynones and also coupling reaction of acyl chlorides with aryl boronic acids for the preparation of diaryl ketones. 2,3-Dialdehyde starch was prepared by periodate oxidation of starch biopolymer and used as covalent linking agent for the reaction with amine groups of chitosan chains to increase its stability. The formed Schiff bases in this hybrid polymer were reduced by NaBH4. Then, the magnetic biosupport was achieved through the reaction of iron oxide nanoparticles with hydroxyl groups of oxidized starch–chitosan hybrid. This magnetic biopolymer was used as excellent stabilizer and biosupport for the immobilization of palladium nanoparticles through the addition of ethanolic solution of palladium chloride in the absence of any external reducing agent.
