Samenvatting

Een manubriosternale dislocatie is een zeldzame aandoening die ontstaat bij een hoogenergetisch thoraxtrauma. Instabiliteit van deze dislocatie kan instabiliteit van de thorax veroorzaken met respiratoire problemen als gevolg. Dan is operatieve stabilisatie geïndiceerd. In deze klinische les beschrijven wij twee casus van een 45-jarige en een 43-jarige patiënt met deze aandoening. Door de instabiliteit van de thorax na een luxatie en de gewrichtseigenschappen van de manubriosternale overgang is naar onze mening rigide plaatosteosynthese noodzakelijk.

Abstract

A manubriosternal dislocation is a rare injury after a high impact trauma. Instability of this joint can cause instability of the chest with respiratory complications, and operative stabilization is than indicated. In this clinical lesson we describe two cases of manubriosternal dislocation of a 45 and 43 year old patient, the treatment of the injury and the outcome after surgery. In our opinion due to the instability of the chest and the joint properties of the manubriosternal joint, this injury should be treated with a rigid plate osteosynthesis.
