Abstract
This article presents a short survey of the Danish minority in Germany, its history, its present situation, the work of its organisations and its school system. The article focuses especially on the legal foundations relating to the minority protection of the Danish minority on a national and international level and the effects of the monitoring mechanism applying to the Council of Europe's Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.
