Abstract
The interventional percutaneous treatment of vascular problems has been established for many years in the care of dialysis patients. For this purpose various techniques are employed, e.g. percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA), thrombectomy and stent placement and are often combined. They are capable of successfully treating vascular stenoses and occlusions with a high technical success and therefore enable a durable utilization of hemodialysis shunts. The omnipresent recurrence alterations can also be repeatedly interventionally addressed. The two different treatment approaches (interventional and vascular surgery), which are best carried out in an interdisciplinary dialysis center, complement each other and overall lead to an improvement in the care of dialysis patients.
