Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Aims and scope

By analyzing the indicator diagram of a positive-displacement pump, it is shown that the key step in the cycle is the discharge process, whose accurate calculation thus becomes of great importance. A literature review reveals two main approaches to calculating the discharge process to be established. From a discussion of their physical meaning, simultaneous equations for their implementation were derived. A numerical experiment disclosed a discrepancy in determining dynamic pressure, calculating the fluid amount supplied per process, and evaluation of the work losses. Based on the research results, it is recommended to calculate the discharge process using simultaneous equations.
