Les tumeurs glomiques de l’orteil : à propos d’un cas de tumeur glomique de l’hallux

A rare case of glomus tumor of the hallux. Review of the literature

Résumé

La tumeur du glomus de Masson est une prolifération neuromyo-artérielle bénigne. Rare, elle est classiquement décrite à la main, beaucoup plus rarement au pied. Elle se définit par une triade clinique comprenant algie, zone gâchette et hypersensibilité. Son diagnostic est souvent tardif. Bien qu’il s’agisse d’une tumeur bénigne, le diagnostic doit être précoce car il y a une altération de la qualité de vie. Le diagnostic est clinique, l’IRM est l’examen complémentaire de choix. Ne répondant pas aux antalgiques classiques, le traitement repose sur l’exérèse chirurgicale. L’étude histologique confirme le diagnostic. Les récidives sont rares mais possibles. Le patient doit en être informé.

Abstract

The Masson glomus tumour is a benign neuromyoarterial growth. Such tumours are rare and are most commonly described in the hand, however there are very rare cases of them in the foot. Tumours are characterised by a triad of clinical symptoms involving pain, tenderness and hypersensitivity. Diagnosis is often late. Although they are benign tumours, an early diagnosis is better as they can have an effect on quality of life. Diagnosis is made based on the clinical presentation, with an MRI scan being an additional optional investigation. These tumours do not respond to classic analgesics, therefore treatment involves their surgical excision. Histological analysis is used to confirm diagnosis. Reoccurrence is rare, but may occur; the patient should therefore be informed of this possibility.
