Abstract

This paper is a sort of guided tour of the second part of the book. Its aim is to connect together some notions which are useful but not popular in the engineering community: on-line versus off-line points of view; local tests versus GLR methods, etc... I hope that the reader will be attracted enough to go through the more mathematical material of the next chapters.
