Selective induction of β-glucosidase in Trichoderma reesei by xylan

Summary

In Trichoderma reesei, QM 9414, β-glucosidase can be selectively induced by xylan. At a concentration of 0.5% xylan in the growth medium, the yield of β-glucosidase is 3 times more than in cellulose medium suggesting that the synthesis of this enzyme in this organism is under an independent regulatory control.
