  • First Online:
An Illustrated Guide to Congenital Heart Disease

Abstract

This chapter includes classification, morphology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, natural and unnatural course, treatment, staged Fontan operation, and fetal diagnosis of a functional single ventricle. Particularly, the chapter includes a unique and novel classification of a functional single ventricle, which can be applied to every heart that requires Fontan-type operation. Images of real patients of each type are presented. Also various postoperative problems or sequelae after bidirectional cavopulmonary shunt and Fontan operation and their treatment are presented including images of each problem.
