Definition

It is a 16-item patient-reported measure (questionnaire) of foot and ankle pain and function. Dimensions/domains comprise three subscales: walking/standing problems (seven items), foot pain (five items), and issues related to social interaction (four items), including feelings of self-consciousness about foot/footwear appearance (“cosmesis”). It is devised in 2006 and initially evaluated in the context of outcomes assessment for hallux valgus (bunion) foot surgery (Dawson et al., 2006, 2007); it is further evaluated for assessing outcomes of foot and ankle surgery (Dawson et al., 2011, 2012).
