Part of the book series: Proceedings in Life Sciences ((LIFE SCIENCES))

Abstract

The action of nicotinic acid (NA) on lipid metabolism was first described by Altschul et al. (1955). Since then a large number of investigators confirmed these early observations and several aspects of the mode of action of NA on lipids, lipoproteins, and atherosclerotic processes could be clarified as well.
