Abstract

The transitions between the fine structure calcium metastable levels are of great interest for metrology and astrophysics. However, the remarkable properties of these transitions can be fully utilized only if the spectroscopic constants of the levels are measured with the best available accuracy. In this paper a determination of the gJ factors of the 3P1 and 3P2 metastable levels is reported with an accuracy limited mainly by the actual knowledge of the proton gyromagnetic factor.
