Abstract

This chapter includes definitions and diagnosis of early pregnancy complications (including spontaneous abortion, early pregnancy failure, threatened or incomplete abortion, septic abortion, and molar pregnancy). Management of these conditions is discussed, with particular emphasis on septic abortion—a potentially life-threatening condition that requires expedient surgical management.
