Abstract
The presence of channel correlations (CC) in the inelastic compound nuclear (CN) decay of an isobaric analog resonance (IAR)1) is shown from a detailed analysis of cross section, analyzing power and polarization. Angular distributions (fig.l) and excitation functions (fig.2) have been measured for the 90Zr(p,p′)9OZr(2+,2.18 MeV) reaction in the energy region of three isolated IAR’s with Jπ = 3/2+ and resonance energies 6.81 MeV, 7.66 MeV and 7.86 MeV. The polarization P was obtained in a “spin flip” particla-gamma coincidence2) with a polarized beam (30 nA, P=75%).
