Abstract
Mathematics education researchers have produced many important research insights into how students learn mathematics, but relatively few of these insights have influenced the practice of classrooms. This chapter takes up Kilpatrick’s call for more “foxes” in mathematics education and considers the ways the field may move to work in more “foxy” ways. This includes reviewing some examples of fox-like research, and offering suggestions for ways in which researchers of mathematics education may turn their research results into useful and useable aspects of practice.
