Definition
Biometric privacy refers to the methods and techniques needed for the protection of the privacy of the individuals involved in the usage of a biometric system. The protection of the privacy can be achieved by the application of a proper set of methodologies to secure the biometric data and prevent improper access and abuse of biometric information.

Biometric features are increasingly used for authentication and identification purposes in a broad variety of institutional and commercial systems, such as e-government, e-banking, and e-commerce applications.
