Definition

Algae-mediated green synthesis of nanomaterials refers to biosynthesis of different metallic, non-metallic, and bimetallic nanomaterials (NMs) for achieving circular economy.

Introduction

Nanoparticles (NPs) have gained great interest in developing sustainable technologies for multiple applications due to their extremely large surface area and small size. However, the materials and associated NPs synthesis processes are currently dependent on nonrenewable resources and simultaneously generate hazardous wastes. Currently, nanoparticles are synthesized using two prime techniques: top-down approach and bottom-up approach.
