Abstract
Organizational behavior is a critical area of study that imparts knowledge and skills to perform as effective health manager. Understanding key principles about how people behave in organizations can help one to become a sought-after colleague, team member, and organizational citizen. Organizational behavior studies the way individuals relate to the workplace and the way group and organizational structures affect individual behavior. This chapter addresses three levels in an organization: individual, group, and organization to improve one’s understanding of human behavior in general and one’s ability to manage and lead people to improve organizational performance. The chapter also delves on explaining the reasons because of which individuals and groups behave the way they do. The chapter is designed keeping in view the requirements of the health sector and deals with conceptual frameworks of organizational behavior, viz. meso-, micro-, and macroprocesses which are known to influence organizational behavior.
