Improving Person-Centered Innovation of Nursing Care

Abstract

If patient needs are the starting point of care and treatment, healthcare professionals throughout the health care system should continue to consider both the physical and mental needs, problems, and health problems of patients and clients. This would do justice to the individuality of each patient and to the diversity among people.

In integrated care, the physical problems of people who are in care for psychological or psychiatric health problems can be integrated into care and treatment and mental problems of people in care for physical health problems can be integrated into care and treatment. Integral care is a step towards personalized health care.

The nurse always works towards insight into perceived vulnerability (perceived susceptibility to illness), perceived seriousness and threat (perceived severity of illness), and experienced degree of control over his illness, his own health, and health behaviors.
