Abstract
From the perspective of the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health), nurses should focus on optimizing health status and identifying health risks that can lead to a deterioration of health status.
The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes the importance of looking at health in a broader context. They advocate a vision in which health status is improved by expanding health.
Specifically, this means that attention must be focused on preventing diseases and preventing health inequalities. The emphasis must be on health promotion, on health and the expansion of it.
The ICF provides a comprehensive framework for understanding health and highlights the importance of optimizing health status by improving patients’ perceived quality of life. Health is viewed from a biopsychosocial perspective, taking into account social and environmental factors that influence people’s health status.
