Abstract
A comprehensive understanding of a patient’s personal living situation and their ability to make well-considered and informed decisions regarding their care and treatment is paramount.
It is crucial to determine the extent to which a patient is able to exercise control over their care, taking into consideration their unique history and personal circumstances.
In order to provide optimal care, a patient must feel seen and heard, listened to, and recognized as an individual. This is the foundation of relational, person-centered care.
Only when these essential elements are present can we truly provide effective and compassionate care that takes into account the whole person.
